HOUSTON — The College Football Playoff national championship game will be played in Houston on Monday.
There are some things you should know about the game before the No. 2 Washington Huskies take on the No. 1 Michigan Wolverines.
What time is the game?
First, kickoff at NRG Stadium will be at 6:30 p.m. CT. The listed capacity for the stadium is 71,995 and there is a roof, so the weather won't be a factor.
The matchup
The Wolverines beat the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl to get to the title game while the Huskies topped the No. 3 Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl to advance.
The Wolverines are 8-5 all-time against the Huskies and most recently won 31-10 in Ann Arbor in 2021.
Both teams are 14-0. It'll be the third time two teams with that record will play each other.
Who's the best player in the game?
Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy this season.
This year's Wolverines are built around a defense allowing FBS lows of 243 yards and 10.2 points per game. Their pass defense gives up just 150 yards per game and has surrendered just seven touchdowns, the fewest in the country.
Betting odds
As of Thursday afternoon, Michigan was a 4.5-point favorite to win the game.
