SAN ANTONIO — The Cole Cougars 10th trip to the state tournament didn't end the way they wanted it to as Hitchcock ended their hopes of making it to another state title game.
The Cougars have been a powerhouse in the area as they've only lost one district game in the past four seasons. That trend only continued under first year head coach Joseph Isaac as they posted a 10-0 district record and 32-9 overall record.
Back in 2021, San Antonio Cole boys basketball won the state championship and had plans of doing the same this year. Hitchcock had other plans.
Even though the Cougars outshot Hitchcock from behind the arch with a total of nine three-pointers, Hitchcock had more rebounds and steals which led to 11 points off of turnovers alone. That ended up playing the biggest factor as Hitchcock won the game by 17 points in a 57-40 victory to advance to the state title game.
Senior Ajian Hasadrinratana had a solid performance with 16 points in his final game as a Cougar.
