Nationally-ranked San Antonio athlete puts on eye-popping performance

Kingston Flemings, a top recruit out of Brennan, scored 39 points in the win against Harlan on Tuesday night.

SAN ANTONIO — On Tuesday night, Kingston Flemings proved why he is one of the most sought-out high school basketball players in the country.

In the first quarter, Flemings outscored the entire Harlan team by himself and scored the first 16 points of the game for Brennan. He finished with 39 points in Brennan's 75-61 win leading the Bears to a 12-4 start the season.

“I felt like my shot was kind of just on,” said Flemings of his scoring output. “For the whole game they were kind of not helping a lot (defensively), so I could get to the rim too.”

Flemings is a junior guard who entered the season as one of the top players in Texas for his class after leading the Bears to the state semifinal game as a sophomore.

Ranked as a Top 100 prospect in America by recruiting outlets like Rivals and 247 Sports, Flemings has been extended offers from top schools such as Kansas, Texas, Alabama, Houston, LSU, Baylor, Texas and Texas Tech.

Tuesday night was not just a one-off for Flemings, he also scored 39 points in an early season loss to Seven Lakes and attributes his success to the team he has around him.

“I’ve got some good shooters around me so the whole court is open," said Flemings. "So I can feel like I can just do whatever I want.”

Flemings said he has added muscle and speed to his game in order to lead the Bears back to the Alamodome for the State Tournament, but with a different outcome this time around.
