On Thursday, Madison High School dedicated their football field to long-time coach Jim Streety. It will henceforth be known as Jim Streety Field.
Because of the rain that San Antonio has experienced this week, the field hasn't officially been completed, so the dedication ceremony was held off the field.
Jim Streety Field is a week from completion. #progress

When the field is completed, a plaque will be displayed telling Streety's story. It reads as follows:
The Legend of a Maverick
Jim Streety retired in 2014 as the fourth-winningest football coach in Texas history. Posted a 343-130-3 record in 23 years at San Antonio Madison (194-85-1), and 17 years at New Braunfels (149-45-2). In 1988 he was selected to coach the Texas High School All-Star Game and in 1999 he was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor. Jim Streety was presented the Tom Landry Award in 2003 and was named Coach of the Year by the San Antonio Express-News in 2011. Known for his consistency and organization, Streety ranks first on the all-time victory list among those who coached primarily at the 5A level. During his tenure at Madison, Streety became the winningest coach in San Antonio history. His Madison teams reached the 5A Division I state semifinals three times – twice in his last three seasons. Coach Streety was the epitome of a Maverick. He loved the Madison community and was a father figure to countless athletes. We are honored to name this field after Coach Jim Streety for his dedication, success, and loyalty to the Madison community.
