BROOKINGS, S.D. — Incarnate Word's playoff run is over following a 55-14 loss to South Dakota State in the FCS quarterfinals.
The Jackrabbits entered halftime up 31-0. Despite a strong 14-0 third quarter from the Cardinals, South Dakota State moves on to the semifinals for the 5th straight year.
UIW quarterback Zach Calzada finished the day with 249 passing yards and a passing touchdown to lead the way for the Cardinals. That however wasn't enough to defeat the Jackrabbits and quarterback Mark Gronowski's 174 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
South Dakota State moves on to the semifinals which will take place Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. They will be playing whoever wins in the North Dakota State-Mercer matchup later Saturday.
