HOUSTON — There's a new Astros cap for sale that may have some fans scratching their heads.
The new hats are supposed to depict the landscape native to the team's home, city, or state. The New Era Cap Company makes licensed hats for sports fans and the Astros edition includes a desert, a cow skull, and a saguaro cactus.
This same landscape is on the hats of the Rangers as well.
Based on that description, some transplant Texans may be thinking what's the big deal?
While Texas is home to some deserts, that type of cactus does not grow in the Lone Star State. According to the National Park Service, that cactus is actually found in California, Arizona, and, of course, all those old Western movies you see.
So if the designers really wanted to have a Texas desert in cactus, they should have picked the prickly pear cactus pictured above.
