ARLINGTON, Texas — Sunday, two Texas Rangers players were selected to appear in the MLB All-Star Game on their home field in Arlington, Texas.
Second baseman Marcus Semien and pitcher Kirby Yates will represent the Texas Rangers at the 2024 All-Star Game.
The announcement comes after no Rangers were named to the roster of starters, despite being the reigning World Series champions. In the last All-Star Game, the Rangers had four players make the starting lineup.
Semien, an 11-season veteran, fell just short of a starting appearance, finishing as runner-up to Astros star Jose Altuve.
This will be Kirby Yates' second All-Star appearance in his 10-season career. His last appearance was with the Padres in 2019. In the four games Yates has pitched, the Rangers have won three.
While starters are determined based on fan votes, pitchers and reserves were selected based on player ballot choices and selections from the Commissioner's Office.
Rangers' manager Bruce Bochy will manage the American League All-Stars.
