DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have hired former Suns and Lakers head coach Frank Vogel as a "coaching consultant".

Mavs head coach Jason Kidd, who worked with Vogel on the Lakers, made the announcement Wednesday at the team's training camp in Las Vegas.

Vogel boasts an impressive resume as a coach. He was a head coach in the NBA for 12 seasons for the Pacers, Magic, Lakers and Suns.

During the COVID-19 bubble year, Vogel coached the Lakers to an NBA championship. Most recently, Vogel was fired by the Phoenix Suns after the team was swept out of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Not only does he have experience coaching at the highest level, but Vogel also has experience with stars. Vogel has coached LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, just to name a few. That gives him a strong foundation entering a locker room with Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić.
