Austin Spurs assemble! Austin's coach goes full Capt. America celebrating RaiQuan Gray's Team USA selection

Austin's coach Hall goes beyond the call of duty for Raiquan Gray.

SAN ANTONIO — USA Basketball recently announced that Austin Spurs forward RaiQuan Gray has been selected to play in USA Basketball’s FIBA Men’s AmeriCup Qualifying games.

And to celebrate Gray's selection, Austin Spurs' coach Willis Hall celebrated in true red, white, and blue fashion: Going full cosplay as Captain America.

During a recent practice, he ran onto the court and gave a rousing speech for Gray before he departed to join Team USA.

"Is there any man that stands among you that stands able to go downhill," Willis shouted to Gray. "And punish a mismatch. Who will stand with me? Could it be you, my friend? Let's fight! USA! USA!"

Outstanding!

Gray certainly deserved the nod.

He has appeared in 18 regular season games with Austin, averaging 18.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.1 steals in 29.5 minutes. He recorded a career-high 35 points against the Salt Lake City Stars on Jan. 13.

Gray was a recent guest on Locked On Spurs, discussing his path to pro basketball, his career-best season in the G-League, and his fandom for the video game Fortnite.

San Antonio Spurs fans can cheer on Gray and Team USA as they are set to play their first AmeriCup Qualifying game against Cuba on Thursday, Feb. 22, and it will take place in Kissimmee, Fla., with a tipoff at 7:10 p.m. ET.
