SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama is the face of the new health drink Barcode and that face is set to splash across television sets in a brand-new television commercial.
Ahead of tonight's Spurs-Knicks game in New York City, Barcode will release a new 30-second commercial according to Sports Business Journal.
Sports Business Journal describes the ad as showing Wembanyama speaking French paired with highlights of him leading up to the 2023 NBA Draft.
“It made sense for us as an emerging brand and at this massive inflection point on the distribution side of the house. It also makes sense as we think about building loyalists to the company. There’s novelty in Victor and there’s attraction to him whether you follow basketball or not," said Barcode Founder & CEO Mubarak Malik to Sports Business Journal.
Sports Business Journal says his ad will run for 90 days across various streaming platforms and via geo-targeted ad buys in New York, California, and Texas.
Barcode is described as "next-generation hydration" for everyday performance. It is plant-based and is also touted to help with mood, immunity, recovery, and performance according to the company.
“It was a no-brainer to choose Barcode to partner with,” Wembanyama said to People.com.
BARCODE BILLBOARDS FEATURING WEMBANYAMA IN SAN ANTONIO AND AUSTIN
Barcode also announced billboards featuring the Spurs rookie dot San Antonio and Austin.
The company also is challenging fans to snap a photo of the billboards for a chance to win a Barcode package with tickets to a Spurs game.
But hurry! The winner will be announced on Nov. 15th.
