The Spurs are 5-26 on the season and will next host the Boston Celtics on Sunday night.
Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.
SPURS
Coach Gregg Popovich:
"I thought we played horrendously getting down 26 (points). The (Portland) made shots. We didn't make shots but that's the NBA. I told the team I was proud of them. The way they hung tough. A young group can just give in but they got back in the ball game by playing more physically themselves. Moving better on offense."
McDermott:
"We were a little slow. Stuck in the mud a little bit to start the game. We kind of had nothing to lose there when our group came in there in the third quarter. We were just super aggressive. We were making shots. Obviously, that helps. We were able to cut into a good to 10 points. Unfortunately, we kind of dug ourselves too big of a hole to start the game to really get all the way back in."
Vassell:
"I think they (Portland) out-physicaled us in the first half. We just kind of fell into that. In the second half, I think we got way more aggressive later in the third quarter. We were driving them. Turning them over. Basketball is a game of runs and we started to go on our run and we weren't letting their physicality determine our game. I'm proud of us for that but we shouldn't have given them that cushion we gave them."
