Bulls 121, Spurs 112: What they said after the game

The Spurs' losing streak is now at 16 in a row.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs' losing skid extends to 16 in a row after losing to the Chicago Bulls 121-112 at home. The losing skid ties the franchise record.

Victor Wembanyama finished with 21 points and 20 rebounds. He is the youngest player in league history with 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game.

Doug McDermott recorded nine points. Zach Collins had 12 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Jeremy Sochan had four points and four assists. Keldon Johnson added 20 points and two rebounds. Devin Vassell recorded 11 points.

The Spurs are 3-18 on the season, and will next visit the Houston Rockets Monday night.

Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.

SPURS

Gregg Popovich:

"We've been here before. Competed their butts off. A lot of good things but the fourth quarter people up their defense and we have trouble scoring. Just didn't keep up the scoring in that regard and we just move on. Go on to the next. 24 offensive rebounds really hurt us. I've never heard of 24 offensive rebounds before."

Tre Jones

"It was a combination of things. Turnovers, I think, is something that's consistent. Tonight, O (offensive) boards throughout the entire game but obviously the third quarter as well. We just stopped hitting shots as well. They (Bulls) picked up their physicality and ended up getting to the free-throw line as well. Just a combination of things."

Wembanyama

"I think we did really good for some time. We are still experimenting."

"There's ups and downs in the game but we got to get our downs less and less low."

BULLS

DeMar DeRozan

“He’s (Wembanyama) going to be a scary defender just affecting people’s shots down there, even if he doesn’t get a hand on them. Just the way he affects everybody coming down there, coming out of nowhere. The first layup, I didn’t know where he came from, and he blocked it. You definitely have to be aware.”
