Cavaliers 117, Spurs 115: What they said after the game

The Spurs could not snap their losing skid in Cleveland.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs could not get a road win in Cleveland and fell to the Cavaliers, 117-115. The Cavaliers outscored the Spurs in points in the paint (50-44) and second-chance points (18-7). The Cavs scored 60 bench points in the win over the Spurs.

Victor Wembanyama had 24 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Jeremy Sochan had 11 points and five rebounds. Keldon Johnson added 18 points and four rebounds. Devin Vassell recorded 22 points in the loss while Tre Jones added 18 points.

The Spurs are 5-30 on the season, on a five-game losing skid, and will next visit the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.

Coach Gregg Popovich:

"Well, we outscored them (Cavs) 11 to nothing in the last three minutes so the defense was pretty good."

Wembanyama:

"I'm young. Getting better every day and I think we could say that for every month to the next one. The good thing is that my margin of progression, I can get so much better, every week and every month."

"My hunger is bigger than ever to win and to compete. I've learned to get over the frustrations of minute restrictions. It's how it is. My body needs time to adapt to this long season. Once it's ready, it's go time. There's no need to be frustrated. I'll keep my long-term goals in mind.
