SAN ANTONIO — They say it's not wise to upset a Wookie, but San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama is capturing the power of the Star Wars character Chewbacca on his feet.
To celebrate his 2023-24 Rookie of the Year Award and his love for all things Star Wars, Wemby introduced his latest Chewbacca-inspired kicks: “Wookie of the Year” Nike GT Hustles.
And as you might have expected, they are furry, just like Chewie!
The sneakers feature long, brown, and black shaggy fur, just like the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon.
It's also not surprising he went with Chewie, considering he towers over many, just like Han Solo's buddy does.
This is not Wemby's first use of a spacey theme for his sneakers. His first Nike GT's featured his alien logo with a black and green colorway.
It is unknown if these Wookie kicks will be for sale to the public, but if they are, having the might of a Wookie on your feet won't be a bad thing.
Now, I wonder if Wemy can make an impression of Chewie's growls.
