SAN ANTONIO — It didn't take long for new San Antonio Spurs guard Chris Paul to get in some court time with his newest teammates.
According to a post on X by Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, the Spurs ran an offseason training camp with Paul getting familiar with the Spurs playbook, coaching staff, and players.
When he was officially introduced, Paul had a direct message to the fan base: He hates to lose.
"I always say I hate to lose more than I like to win," the 12-time All-Star said.
Paul – the hard-nosed, rugged point guard who ranks No. 3 all-time in NBA career assists – has built a reputation in his storied career as a player who will do everything and anything to win.
"One thing you should know about is we (are) going to compete. We (are) definitely going to compete," he said.
His years of experience are expected to help advance the player and team's development, even if he isn't with the Spurs until the rebuild concludes.
SPURS SUPPORT SAFC
The San Antonio FC soccer club had a trio of Spurs, present and past, come out to the pitch and show support.
Rookies Stephon Castle, Riley Minix and Harrison Ingram put on SAFC kits and got on the pitch. Ingram also shot at a goal versus Spurs' Gorgui Deng.
Manu Ginobili was also in attendance, taking part in the soccer action.
