Clippers 124, Spurs 99: What the teams said after the game

The Spurs' losing skid extends to nine straight after falling to the Clippers.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs losing skid extends to nine in a row after losing to the Los Angeles Clippers 124-99 at home.

Victor Wembanyama had nine points, four assists, and three rebounds while Cedi Osman recorded 17 points. Zach Collins had 12 points and three rebounds in the loss. Jeremy Sochan had eight points. Keldon Johnson added 22 points to lead the team. Devin Vassell was out due to injury.

The Spurs are 3-11 on the season, and will next host the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday night.

Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.

SPURS

Gregg Popovich

"I'm totally pleased with the game. Nobody likes to lose but I thought their competitiveness and execution were good against a very good, very talented, and very well-coached team. I'll sleep well. Look at the film. We'll continue tomorrow but I liked a lot of things that I saw individually and team-wise."

Tre Jones

"Continue to try to give our best effort every single night. Continue to compete. Be aggressive on both ends of the court. Most importantly, be aggressive as we can there and let the rest take care of itself. Obviously, tonight we were making plays, trying to get back into it but they (Clippers) made shots to keep the lead going."

Johnson

"We're getting better. We're losing. Everybody knows that but I'll keep being myself. Keep being energetic. I'm still going to be myself so when we start winning you all will say that KJ was the same person winning or losing. That's what it's going to be but we are going to start winning. It's just a matter of time. We're learning. We're getting better."

"I don’t let being a young team make any excuses on why we don’t come out on top each and every night. We learn, and we compete and we want to win. We don’t go out there and say ‘aw man, at the end of the day we’re a young team, it’s fine.’ We lost, and we’re trying to make the right corrections so that we can win games."

CLIPPERS

Ty Lue

“It was the same rotation as last game, just played a little better. When people start to get comfortable understanding the different roles as far as [Russell Westbrook] coming off the bench, and how we want to play. Then [Paul George] came back here with that second unit as well, playing through him a lot more. So that was the biggest thing for us.”

Kawhi Leonard

“Tonight, we had 7 turnovers. That's been a big issue for us, turning over the ball. We kind of have become a one shot, not getting signature [moves]. That's been the key. I mean we got to be detailed, rebound the basketball, having great location, playing our defense. Offense will come once everybody gets comfortable."
