SAN ANTONIO — Ex-San Antonio Spurs (now Suns forward) Drew Eubanks was involved in an incident involving Pistons' Isaiah Stewart.
Reportedly, Stewart punched Eubanks in the face in a Footprint Center parking lot before the two teams faced off Wednesday night.
The former Spur said an argument started, and they were chest-to-chest before Stewart threw the punch. Security intervened, and Steward was arrested, given a citation, and later released.
“The attack on Drew Eubanks was unprovoked, and acts of violence such as this are unacceptable,” the Suns said in a release. “We unequivocally support Drew, and will continue to work with local law enforcement and the NBA.”
Detroit also released a statement regarding the incident stating the team is aware of the situation and will work with local authorities.
Eubanks' teammate Kevin Durant spoke on the incident emphasizing the team is supporting him.
Eubanks did play (suffering a minor injury from the altercation) and spoke on the incident saying Stewart's action was not surprising.
The investigation remains active, according to a release from the Phoenix Police Department.
Eubanks played with the Spurs from 2018-22 before being traded to the Raptors.
