Five things to watch: Spurs versus Thunder

Can the Spurs beat the Thunder to start a seven-game homestand?

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs (8-35) will host the Oklahoma City Thunder (29-13) tonight. The Spurs are 0-1 versus the Thunder, and it is the team's first game of a seven-game homestand.

GAME REWIND

The Spurs are coming off a road loss versus the Sixers, 133-123.

The Spurs had six players in double-figure scoring and made 13 three-point shots. However, it was not enough as Sixers' Joel Embiid scored a Sixers' franchise record 70 points.

Victor Wembanyama recorded 33 points and seven rebounds. Jeremy Sochan had 14 points and eight rebounds. Keldon Johnson added eight points and two rebounds off the bench. Devin Vassell recorded 22 points in the loss, while Tre Jones added 12 points and six assists before exiting the game with an apparent ankle injury.

"I thought we were great. We're playing a team that's trying to win a championship. We gave everything we had to give. That's the most important part: you keep playing and learning," coach Gregg Popovich said. "Obviously, we're not going to be able to play these guys the way we would play if we were also a championship ball club. But given the fact these guys are just learning how to play with each other, as young as they are, I got to love what they did out there."
