George 'Iceman' Gervin, Spurs made a special jersey announcement

The team is bringing back their original jerseys for next season.

SAN ANTONIO —
The San Antonio Spurs and franchise legend George Gervin made a special announcement today and it was tremendous.

Gervin and the Spurs announced that the original Spurs ABA jersey with "San Antonio" across the chest is coming back for the 2022-23 season.

This new "Spurs Classic Edition" uniform had been leaked months in advance but with the team officially announcing it, it will be a sure-fire hit with fans.

“The Spurs Classic Edition uniform is a symbolic way for us to honor our legacy, players and loyalty to the city of San Antonio while giving our fans what they’ve been asking for – we hear you,” said Becky Kimbro, VP of Brand Engagement for Spurs Sports & Entertainment. “Our team has been working for two years to make this jersey possible for our 50th anniversary and we hope our fans are just as excited as we are to see it on the court, once again.”

The Spurs will wear the new uniforms for select games at home and on the road during the 2022-23 season.

But fans will have to wait a while to grab one.

The team announced that the official retail product will be available in September at Spurs Fan Shops and online at spursfanshop.com. There will also be new T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, jerseys, caps and more.

Fans should join the official San Antonio Spurs Fan Club for their first chance to purchase the Classic Edition Uniform once available.
