Heat 118, Spurs 113: What they said after the game

"We’re getting better, learning more and more," said Keldon Johnson.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs picked up their fifth straight loss, losing to the Miami Heat, 118-113 at home.

Victor Wembanyama had 18 points, and 11 rebounds while Devin Vassell recorded 14 points. Zach Collins had 18 points and five rebounds in the loss. Jeremy Sochan had 16 points. Keldon Johnson had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the team.

The Spurs are 3-7 on the season, and will next visit the Oklahoma City Thunder Tuesday night.

Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.

SPURS

Gregg Popovich

"Too many mistakes, a little bit of sloppiness on some passes that created some turnovers and undisciplined fouls and it adds up. That's where we want to be, more disciplined which would mean fewer undisciplined fouls, fewer turnovers, and if some were unforced because of the passes we tried to make. But the effort is there, and I can see the wheels turning."

Johnson

"We’re getting better, learning more and more. We had a lead, we controlled most of the game, now we just got to close out. So, we continue to grow, continue to learn, go over film and continue to get better on the things that we can control.”

Wembanyama

"Nobody in the locker room is putting their head down and giving up, so we’re here and we’re ready."

HEAT

Erik Spoelstra

"We're not taking anything away from San Antonio. It's just the way they play. They played with pace and they're so well-coached. If you're not really locked in and present, you can get carved up. Our offense was pretty sluggish in that first quarter, and they took advantage of it, and we found ourselves in a 19-point hole."

Duncan Robinson

"I think our offense was probably getting us into a little trouble there in that first quarter. Obviously, they (Spurs) were kind of scoring at ease, but there's a symbiotic relationship there. If you're able to get them taking the ball out of the hoop, it's easier to set the defense."
