SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs could not pick up a road win in Charlotte, losing to the Hornets, 124-120.
The Hornets outscored San Antonio 35-27 in the final period and connected on 16 three-pointers for the game.
Victor Wembanyama sat out due to load management. Jeremy Sochan had 11 points and eight rebounds. Keldon Johnson added 25 points and four rebounds off the bench. Devin Vassell recorded 17 points in the loss while Tre Jones added 16 points and four assists.
The Spurs are 7-34 on the season, riding a four-game losing skid and will next visit the Washington Wizards on Saturday night. Zach Collins will sit out that game.
Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.
SPURS
Coach Gregg Popovich:
"The 24 points off turnovers were really the difference overall in the game. I thought Tre (Jones) was great running the show and being aggressive and attacking all night long. He did a wonderful job."
Collins:
"We just got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. They had 24 points off turnovers and they won the game by five, six (points), whatever. I think we've moved past the point of giving in when teams go on runs. I think we've learned how to be professional and understand that it happens and it's okay to go through that but you got to push back."
HORNETS
Coach Steve Clifford:
