SAN ANTONIO — Final: Spurs win 119-109.
The Spurs outscored Dallas 36-24 in the final period to knock off their Texas rivals.
San Antonio opened the fourth quarter on an 18-5 run, taking the lead back from Dallas. Rudy Gay has singlehandedly outscored the Mavericks 9-5 in the stretch.
Third Quarter: 85-83 Mavericks
San Antonio outscored Dallas 29-26 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 2.
DeMar DeRozan scored just two points of his own in the third quarter, but he leaned all the way into the distributor role and dished out 5 dimes in the period, giving him 10 for the game. He joins Aldridge, Lyles, White, Mills and Belinelli in double figures.
Second Quarter: 59-54 Mavericks
DeMar DeRozan is up to 9 points and 5 assists at the break, and we may have to start a triple double watch for Derrick White at 7 points, 6 assists and 4 boards. LaMarcus Aldridge has 10 points, but none of these players lead the Spurs in scoring. That's Marco Belinelli, off the bench with 13.
First Quarter: 29-27 Mavericks
Marco Belinelli also made his return to the team today, and he's off to a red-hot 3-3 start from the floor. He beat the first quarter buzzer with a shooter's roll on a triple to cut the Dallas lead to 29-27.
Aldridge is out to a 2-7 start to the game. The entire San Antonio team is struggling, shooting just 29% from the floor through the first 9 minutes.
