Mario Elie opens up about 1999 Spurs title run; Spurs taking applications for Human Performance X Equity Program

Elie explains how Sean Elliott's "Memorial Day Miracle" shot was close to not happening at all.

SAN ANTONIO — Former San Antonio Spurs player Mario Elie helped the team reach its first NBA title in 1999 with his toughness, shooting, and veteran leadership.

He also participated in the biggest shot in franchise history: Sean Elliott's "Memorial Day Miracle" against Portland.

While many will remember Elliott for making the clutch shot, Elie inbounded the ball, allowing Sean to etch his name in the history books.

However, did you know just how precise the entire play had to be for Elliott to make the game-winning shot?

Elie joined the "Sweep The League" show to discuss everything, including his thoughts on playing for Gregg Popovich and much more.

According to the Spurs, HPxE’s global program focuses on various fields connected to human performance and sports, including entertainment, arts, military, medicine and technology. HPxE will develop the next generation of human performance leaders by fostering their professional and personal growth within an equitable and holistic learning framework. Throughout the program, fellows will collaborate on a capstone project alongside their mentor, fostering collective impact and skill development.

“After a successful pilot year with our inaugural cohort of next-generation human performance leaders, we are excited to welcome our second cohort,” said Dr. Kara Allen, Chief People, Impact and Belonging Officer at SS&E in a release. “The HPxE program will continue to foster a unique interdisciplinary space where leaders can develop their skills, build community and push the boundaries of human performance. Our program invests in the future of human performance and the positive impact these leaders will make on their fields and the communities they represent.”
