No. 0! San Antonio Spurs' Keldon Johnson posts his new jersey number

Keldon Johnson has worn No. 3 throughout his Spurs tenure, but with Chris Paul's arrival, he will switch to No. 0.

SAN ANTONIO — The mystery of who will wear No. 3 for the San Antonio Spurs next season is over.

San Antonio Spurs' Keldon Johnson has shared on social media his new jersey number, No. 0, settling whether or not he will give up the number with Chris Paul's arrival.

He must have had a change of heart (or Paul paid him to give up the number) since his meet-and-greet in Corpus Christi, where he was adamant he was keeping No. 3 for the 2024-25 season.

Before entering the NBA, Johnson wore jersey No. 3 at Kentucky and Oak Hills Academy in Virginia.

He picked that jersey number for two reasons.

He is the third child in his family. As a child, his favorite player was the newest member of the Spurs.

"Growing up, I was the third child," Johnson said. "And when I was growing up, Chris Paul was my favorite player. I watched a lot of his highlights when I was younger."

Johnson switching to No. 0 is not surprising. He wore the number during his time with the Austin Spurs.

Evidence was mounting that Johnson had changed his number.

The video game NBA 2K25 inadvertently showed Johnson wearing No. 3, and San Antonio stores had put new team gear on shelves, showing Paul tee-shirts with No. 3.

Paul has played by the moniker "CP3" throughout his playing career and will likely wear No. 3 for San Antonio.

Neither the Spurs nor the NBA have made any official announcement.
