Oddsmaker gives even odds on three guards the Spurs could select with the No. 4 pick in the NBA Draft

Which NBA Draft guard prospect should the Spurs pick?

SAN ANTONIO — Las Vegas oddsmakers are busy with 2024 NBA Draft prop futures and are projecting which player the San Antonio Spurs will select in the first round at No. 4.

According to oddsmaker BetOnline, there is a three-way odds tie that San Antonio will select Nikola Topic, Rob Dillingham, or Stephon Castle.

BetOnline has the trio, each with +300 odds that they'll be the next member of the Spurs.

Like any player, all three have their pros and cons.

Topic has already dealt with two left knee injuries at 18 years old. He told KENS 5 that the Spurs doctors had spoken with him about his health.

"I have talked with their doctor but nothing else," he said.

In the EuroLeague with Mega Basket, he averaged 18.4 points, 7.1 assists, a steal, and 25.9% from the three-point line in 12 games played in the 2023-24 season. He is a dynamic, 6'6" point guard with incredible passing ability and can put pressure on defense in the paint. His defense is sub-par, and his shooting ability can use work.

"I think I would fit great with any team, not just San Antonio," he said to KENS 5. "As I've said many times, whoever picks me, the approach is the same. I'll do my best to accept the role the coach gives me, and that's it."

Dillingham has expressed interest in joining the Spurs.

During an interview with ESPN, he spoke about seeing himself paired with Victor Wembanyama.

"I would be amazing because there's nothing he can't do. Playing with him, it's like two people got to guard him," he said. "Playing with Wemby, I feel it would be an amazing opportunity, for sure."

Most draft analyses say he is on the small side, listed at 6-3, and his defense needs improvement.

However, Dillingham is described as a dynamic shot-creator and scorer. The Spurs need that skillset from a point guard to pair with Wembanyama.

He averaged 15.5 points per game and 4.2 assists and shot 43% from the three-point line last season with Kentucky.

Castle is 6'6", 210 lbs, and has a 6-9 wingspan. Last season with the Huskies, he averaged 11.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game and shot 54.4% from the field in 34 games.

According to The Athletic, the Spurs are fond of him and could select him at No. 4 or 8.

"The Spurs are said to be big fans of UConn's Castle, league sources said, and he is moving up their draft board. San Antonio has two top-10 selections and could take Castle with either the No. 4 or No. 8 pick."
