Oddsmaker projects Pistons as favorite to land Spurs' Keldon Johnson

The NBA Trade Deadline is this Thursday.

SAN ANTONIO — Las Vegas oddsmakers are busy with 2023-24 NBA prop futures, and with the NBA Trade Deadline this week, oddsmakers are projecting which NBA team San Antonio Spurs' Keldon Johnson will call home next if he departs the Alamo City.

And apparently, it is the Detroit Pistons.

According to oddsmaker BetOnline, the Pistons are +200 odds favorites to land the longest-tenured Spur if he does not remain with the team.

Johnson is under contract (four years at $74 million guaranteed) after signing an extension with the team in 2023. He will be an unrestricted free agent in 2027.

According to a report, the deal can reach up to $80 million with incentives and declines in value each year.

So the only way Johnson isn't in a Spurs uniform is via trade with Detroit, or he doesn't re-sign after his current deal expires.

Should this scenario play out, he would fit in well on the Pistons' young roster on and off the court. But what would the Spurs want in a trade? Jalen Duren? Point guard Jaden Ivey?

According to BetOnline, the other top teams to land Johnson are the Orlando Magic (+300 odds) and Miami Heat (+400 odds).

Johnson is currently averaging 16.7 points per game, along with 5.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 45% field goal shooting through 46 games played this season.
