SAN ANTONIO — Las Vegas oddsmakers are busy with 2024 NBA offseason prop futures, and with the season just winding up, many are projecting where Warriors' free agent Klay Thompson may land next season.
Several major online sportsbooks are releasing which teams have the best odds for Thompson's services next season, and according to Bookies.com, the San Antonio Spurs are in the running.
Bookies have the Spurs with the sixth-best odds of landing Thompson next season at +1000.
The Warriors (+300), 76ers (+325), and Lakers (+450) lead the pack.
Thompson could fit the Spurs' need to add perimeter shooters to pair with Victor Wembanyama. He is an NBA champion and a veteran who would know his role on the team.
However, injuries robbed him of over two seasons, and his play in the 2024 Play-In Tournament versus the Kings was forgettable. He went 0-for-10 from the field and missed all six 3-point attempts.
He did average double-figure scoring this season at 17.9 points per game (the lowest of his career) and shot 38.7% from the three-point line last season off the bench for Golden State.
Following the end of the Warriors' season, coach Steve Kerr made it clear he wants to see Thompson remain in Golden State.
“What Klay has meant to this franchise and as good as he still is, we desperately want him back," said Kerr.
The 34-year-old would be an intriguing addition to the Spurs roster next season, but will he want to come to a team in its rebuilding phase, perhaps land with a contender, or retire with the Warriors?
