SAN ANTONIO — The NBA has 30 teams, all sporting unique jerseys.
From vibrant color schemes and lettering font to their design work, all teams have their fresh look on the court.
But when San Antonio Spurs' Jeremy Sochan was asked at the NBA Rising Stars media session which jerseys are his favorite and least favorite, it seems he might have poured gasoline on the Texas basketball rivalry between the Spurs and Rockets.
"Who has the best? What team? The San Antonio Spurs," he said. "Least favorite: Houston Rockets."
Shots fired!
Sochan may be biased, but the stats do not lie.
Recently, the NBA announced Spurs merchandise made the top 10 in Team Merchandise sales for the first time since the 2017-18 season. Houston merchandise did not land on the top-10 list.
As for his remarks, it just added fuel to the rivalry between the two Texas NBA teams.
The Houston-San Antonio rivalry has run deep since the 1990s with testy playoff battles and the two teams vying for NBA titles. Also, Rockets fans have been salty about losing the 2023 NBA Draft and the right to select Victor Wembanyama No. 1.
SOCHAN SHOUTS OUT SPURS FANS
Sochan will hear plenty of cheering at the Rising Stars game, but which NBA team has the craziest fans?
In a completely unbiased answer, Sochan feels Spurs fans are on top.
"The San Antonio Spurs," he said. "I'm biased again."
DETECTIVE SOCHAN?
Sochan is off to a good start to his NBA career in his second season, but what would he be doing if he wasn't in the league?
According to the forward, he would be side-by-side with the FBI.
"I'd be a detective. Like an FBI agent or something like that," he said.
He also opines that Victor Wembanyama would work in the financial world or the classroom.
"He'd be doing something with a lot of money. In another sport because he's talented. A professor. I see that," he said.
Wembanyama (Team Gasol) and Sochan (Team Rose) will go head-to-head at the Rising Stars Game on Friday, Feb. 16, 8 CT on TNT.
