SAN ANTONIO — Las Vegas oddsmakers are busy with 2023-24 NBA prop futures, and with the season winding down, many are projecting San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama to be named the NBA Rookie of the Year.
And many have stopped taking bets.
Several major online sportsbooks have determined Wembanyama will win the Rookie of the Year and have designated the prop bet as "off the board" or OTB. covers source
Wemby is undoubtedly the favorite to take home the award, and no one should be surprised.
In his final rookie game, he scored 34 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and two blocks in a win over the Nuggets.
Wembanyama averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals and a league-leading 3.6 blocks in 71 games.
He was also named the West Rookie of the Month three straight times. In March, he posted 21.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, a league-leading 3.83 blocks, and 1.17 steals in 31.7 minutes. He led all rookies in the month's scoring, rebounding, and blocks.
"These are going to be on my way," he said. "It's another milestone, and these things are important to me."
Wembanyama's NBA career is just beginning, and if his rookie season is any indication, his award shelf will likely become an award warehouse.
There will likely be many All-Star nods, Player of the Month Awards, Defensive Player of the Year Awards, and countless other personal accolades ahead of him.
