San Antonio sports legends come together; Avery Johnson proves he still can hoop

A trio of local sports greats meet up.

SAN ANTONIO — It is not often that three San Antonio sports legends are in the same place and at the same time, but it recently happened.

UTSA football legend Frank Harris caught up with a pair of San Antonio Spurs legends and caught the moment they all came together.

Harris shared a photo of himself alongside Bruce Bowen and Tim Duncan.

"Those are the real 210 legends," Harris posted on X.

Harris is arguably the greatest football player in UTSA Athletics history, and we know what Bowen and Duncan did on the court - bringing NBA titles to San Antonio.

AVERY JOHNSON STILL CAN BALL

It might be years since former Spurs guard Avery Johnson last played an NBA game, but he recently showed that he still can hoop.

And he is calling out coach Gregg Popovich for not letting him become an offensive power on the court.

"Hey, I wish Popovich would have given me more opportunities to be an offensive juggernaut of a scorer and not force me to feed Tim Duncan and David  Robinson and Mario Elie and Sean Elliott," Johnson said. "I needed more attempts, guys.

"My game was driving to the basket, putting somebody in the blender and spinning that was my game. I still got it."

Johnson is so confident in his skill set (despite being 59 years old) that he believes he can be a top scorer in the Big 3 League.

The Spurs should contact Avery to see if he will come out of retirement and can push the current point guards on the roster in the upcoming training camp.
