SAN ANTONIO — A former San Antonio Spurs player and coach has accepted the position of Head Basketball Coach at TMI Episcopal here in San Antonio.
Coach Monty Williams brings extensive coaching experience, including his most recent roles in the NBA as the Head Coach of the Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns, where he was named NBA Coach of the Year in 2022.
Williams played for the Spurs in 1996 until 1998, then worked on the coaching staff in 2005, winning a Championship as a coaching staff intern.
He will be coaching his son, Class of 2026 elite prospect Elijah Williams, as well as two other former Spurs player's sons. Bruce Bowen's two sons, Ozmel and Ojani, and Tim Duncan's son Dra, also play for the Panthers. Bowen is the coach that Williams is replacing.
