San Antonio Spurs enhance the fan experience during Spurs Week with AI and augmented reality

Spurs week gets a huge tech step up.

SAN ANTONIO — Step into the future of the NBA fan experience during Spurs Week.

The San Antonio Spurs announced two initiatives to transform the fan experience leading up to the team’s March 15 and 17 games at Austin's Moody Center as part of their I-35 Series. 

According to the team, the efforts include a first-of-its-kind personalized generative artificial Intelligence video for all ticket holders and an augmented reality interactive experience that will be available during Spurs Week.

"We are thrilled to team up with Gan.ai and Fresh Consulting to create unique and innovative experiences for our fans and partners," said Jordan Kolosey, VP Business Strategy Innovation and Data Operations at Spurs Sports and Entertainment said in a release. "Both collaborations align perfectly with our focus on engaging our Austin area fans. By utilizing AI and mixed reality technology, we are embracing trends that are redefining the industry."

Personalized AI Videos for Ticket Holders

The Spurs are collaborating with Gan.ai, an AI video personalization startup, to create a one-of-a-kind video experience for ticket holders attending the games in Austin. These personalized visuals and audio-tailored videos will leverage generative artificial intelligence to further engage fans and underscore the Spurs’ dedication to cutting-edge innovation. The result is a truly unique and personalized welcome, where each fan is addressed by name in their own unique video.

Bringing H-E-B Creamy Creations to Life with Mixed Reality

The Spurs will also use mixed-reality headsets to offer a first-of-its-kind mixed-reality experience at Spurs Night SXSW Community Concert, pre-game events, and the in-game concourse for the I-35 series. 

According to a release, by utilizing mixed reality, fans can step into the world of the H-E-B Creamy Creations commercials and see how they stack up against the ice cream cartons and some of their favorite Spurs players. Afterward, the experience will allow fans to capture and share their participation on social media.

This unique mixed reality experience will only be available during Spurs week, offering fans a chance to be among the first to experience the next level of virtual fan engagement.
