SAN ANTONIO — The holidays are about to get brighter for the San Antonio community thanks to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs will be helping local families through community-centered initiatives and player engagements as part of the “NBA Season of Giving.”
It is a five-week celebration running from mid-November through December when NBA teams give back by supporting and uplifting youth, families, and organizations in their communities.
According to a release, the Spurs players and SS&E organization will serve Thanksgiving dinner to families, donate shoes for children, hand out holiday gifts to kids, give away decorated Christmas trees to families, and much more.
Joining the Spurs in this effort are Ashley, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Elf Louise Christmas Project, Methodist Healthcare, San Antonio Food Bank, and the San Antonio Police Department.
Season of Giving exemplifies Spurs Sports & Entertainment's unwavering commitment to community impact, fostering connections among players, partners, staff, and families in the places where we live, learn, work, and play.
And it is not just the holiday season where the Spurs positively impact San Antonio and beyond.
The team has refurbished outdoor basketball courts throughout the city, reached out to the Uvalde, Texas community following the tragic mass shooting, and the franchise was recognized by ESPN for its humanitarian efforts.
Spurs fans can start assisting the Spurs now in the "Share the Shoes" drive which benefits local kids by donating shoes and socks. Fans can donate online here.
