SAN ANTONIO — It's time to catch up on some San Antonio Spurs news you might have missed.
TONY PARKER HALL OF FAME NIGHT ANNOUNCED
The Spurs announced that the “Tony Parker Hall of Fame Game" will take place on Sunday, Dec. 17 when the team hosts the New Orleans Pelicans. This themed game will feature activations and giveaways paying tribute to Parker’s recent induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
All fans in attendance will receive a free T-shirt, and a special collection of commemorative Tony Parker Hall of Fame products available for purchase in the Fan Shop. Parker will address the crowd at halftime and there will be a “re-raising” of his retired jersey banner, newly embellished with his Hall of Fame status.

DOUG MCDERMOTT'S CREIGHTON BASKETBALL JERSEY SET TO BE RETIRED
Creighton Men’s Basketball announced that it will retire McDermott’s No. 3 jersey prior to its Dec. 20 home game vs. Villanova.
He was a three-time All-American (2012, 2013, 2014) and a consensus National Player of the Year (2014).
“We are thrilled to be able to retire Doug’s jersey,” said Greg McDermott, the father of Doug, in a release. “His impact on our basketball program was immense. He and his teammates helped usher in a new era of Creighton Basketball as we entered the BIG EAST. As his Father and Coach, I look forward to celebrating him with 18,000 Bluejay faithful on Dec. 20th.”
SPURS SCHEDULE UPDATE
The Spurs announced two regular season games have been added to their schedule for the 2023-24 season, following the conclusion of the group play portion of the NBA’s In-Season Tournament. The Spurs will visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. and host the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 8 at 7:30.
AUSTIN SPURS NEWS
The Austin Spurs, San Antonio's G League affiliate, are spreading holiday cheer in Austin through community-centered activations and player appearances as part of the G League’s annual “Season of Giving,” a social responsibility initiative geared toward supporting local youth and community from mid-November through December.
Here are all the holiday events the Austin Spurs announced:
- Austin staff members will participate in an interactive food donation event presented by Thrivent Financial on Tuesday, Nov. 28 that will take place at their headquarters. Austin Spurs staff will compete against staff from Round Rock Express and Realty Austin to build the most creative structures out of packaged goods. The food collected from the game will all be donated to Bethany Lutheran Church and Abiding Love Food Pantry.
- On Tuesday, Dec. 12, Austin Spurs players will visit Dell Children’s Hospital to spend time with young patients and their families while handing out blankets.
- On Sunday, Dec. 17, the Silver and Black will play their annual Season of Giving game against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers where the team will host children from underserved communities throughout Austin. Each child will receive a stuffed animal.
