Spurs reportedly on Bulls' LaVine's shortlist of possible landing spots

According to a report, LaVine would want to pair with rookie Wembanyama.

SAN ANTONIO — Could All-Star Zach LaVine wear the San Antonio Spurs uniform?

According to a report from Yahoo! Sports' Jake Fisher, LaVine and his representation have the Spurs among possible landing spots should the Bulls opt to trade him this season.

Fisher claims the lure of playing alongside Victor Wembanyama and reuniting with coach Gregg Popovich from their time with Team USA in 2020 makes San Antonio an option.

"LaVine also has an eye on joining the San Antonio Spurs, sources said, in order to pair with rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama and reunite with head coach Gregg Popovich, who oversaw the 2020 Team USA outfit that LaVine helped win a gold medal in Tokyo," Fisher reports.

The Spurs are well under the salary cap and own an abundance of first and second-round picks and young players on the roster to make a serious trade offer to Chicago if they want to bring in the veteran forward.

LaVine (28 years old) would boost the roster's veteran presence, provide another offensive weapon, and could fit in seamlessly with the Spurs considering he is familiar with what Popovich wants from players.

Currently, he is averaging 21.7 points per game along with 4.9 rebounds.

Other teams reportedly on his list are the Lakers, Heat, and Sixersper Fisher.
