SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs could not pick up the road win against the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday night, losing 105-93.
Victor Wembanyama had a career-low six points off 1-of-5 shooting. Jeremy Sochan finished with 17 points and nine rebounds. Keldon Johnson had nine points off the bench, Harrison Barnes finished with 18, Malaki Branham had 15, and Chris Paul had 14 points and nine assists.
Due to injury, San Antonio was without Devin Vassell and Tre Jones, who will be out for two weeks.
The Spurs are 1-3 to start the season and will next visit the Utah Jaz on Thursday night.
Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.
SPURS
Popovich:
"They're a better team than we are but it's also beside the point. We're trying to get to their level. It's basketball. It's the same things that gets everybody to the next level. The first thing for us is to realize it's a 48 minute game. The second half we played them even. I think we scored a few more ponts then they did actually. That's 24 minutes not 48."
Barnes:
"Just trying to drive home our identity of how we want to play. I think it is very evident, on tape that on tape what we saw, when we do that and when we don't. It's just playing with presence. Playing with intention and sustain that effort and focus."
