SAN ANTONIO — All eyes will be on France as the 2024 Olympics are just days away from beginning.
A massive poster of San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama dots the city to celebrate Paris and all the incredible athletes. Still, the French big man is just eyeing the gold medal.
“I’m excited to play any good teams, but it's really about us," he said to ESPN. "We are trying to make it as far as we can to the gold medal. So it doesn’t matter who's our opponents."
Team France is loaded with talent. Wembanyama, Nicolas Batum, Rudy Gobert, and Evan Fournier are just a few named on a who's-who French roster.

Recently, Team France lost to Team Australia in exhibition play, 83-82. Wembanyama finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Former Spur Patty Mills led Australia with 24 points and three assists.
France will be a tough opponent for all teams in the tournament, and it would be poetic to see Wemby and Team France capture gold in their home country.
