SAN ANTONIO — The NBA has released the second returns of fan NBA 2024 All-Star voting and San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama received plenty of votes keeping himself in the race to make it on the starting squad.
Wemby has received a total of 426, 419 fan votes good for eighth in the West Frontcourt. It puts him ahead of OKC's rookie Chet Holmgren (9) and Wolves' Karl Anthony-Towns (10).
The rookie is certainly putting up solid numbers and is must-see television as well as a must-buy ticket to see in person.
Currently, he is posting 19.2 points per game along with 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 44% field goal shooting, and 3.2 blocks.
In his last seven games, he has recorded double-figure scoring outings including 30 points and seven blocks against Portland on Dec. 28.
He also notched his first NBA triple-double versus the Pistons on Wednesday night with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. It is the second-fastest triple-double in NBA history and he is the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double with 0 turnovers since turnovers were first tracked in 1977-78.
Should he make the West squad as a rookie it will not only be a major accomplishment for him, but he will also join Tim Duncan who is the last player the Spurs drafted No. 1 overall to make the All-Star Game as a rookie.
