SAN ANTONIO — If you happened to have $762,000 in your back pocket then you may have missed out on owning a piece of San Antonio Spurs history.
Rookie Victor Wembanyama's regular season NBA debut jersey versus Dallas recently sold for $762,000 at Sotheby's auction.
Yes, you read that correctly!
According to a post on X, the initial expectations for the sale were projected to be between $80,000 and $120,000. Also, it set the record for the highest amount paid for an NBA rookie's jersey.
According to Sotheby's post on X, Wembanyama's jersey has a higher value than jerseys worn by LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Stephen Curry.
Wemby's jerseys are not the only collectible item to have a high price.
Several of his basketball cards have sold for thousands of dollars and there seems to be no end in sight for how expensive they can go for.
