SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama is becoming a household name in the United States and globally.
According to the NBA, the rookie big man has officially surpassed 1 billion video views across NBA social media platforms since the start of the season.
He is the third-most viewed NBA player globally, just behind LeBron James (1.3 billion) and Stephen Curry (1.2 billion).
What is his most-viewed moment so far in his rookie season? His dunk on former Spurs guard Derrick White on Dec. 31 during a game versus Boston.
The NBA says that moment is the most-viewed ever across NBA social media platforms, with 153 million video views.
These views are a massive leap from earlier this season.
On Dec. 21, the NBA shared that Wemby ranked No. 2 among the top 10 most-viewed players on NBA social at that time, with 508 million views.
Those numbers ranked ahead of Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Stephen Curry, and James Harden.
Wembanyama is a must-see on television, in person at games, or on the global stage.
His height, speed, wingspan, and ability to dominate a game are big reasons why fans tune in to watch and why he is popular on social media no matter where on the globe.
Add in his new partnership with French fashion house Louis Vuitton, and it is no wonder Wemby is taking the global NBA stage by storm.
