SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs fans will open their Christmas Day presents this year and watch the Silver and Black take on the Knicks in Madison Square Garden.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania shared on X that San Antonio will be a part of the NBA’s 2024 Christmas Day slate of games. This will mark the first time the Spurs will play on Christmas Day since 2016 when they topped the Bulls 119-100.
This will also be Victor Wembanyama's first Christmas Day NBA game, and he might want to quiet the Garden crowd.
On his first visit to New York as a Spur, he was met with chants of "overrated" from the Knicks fans.
However, he did post a whopping 40 points and 20 rebounds stat line when the Spurs hosted the Knicks in San Antonio in a thrilling overtime win.
Also playing on Christmas Day are the Timberwolves, Mavericks, Sixers, the defending NBA champs Celtics, Lakers, Warriors, Nuggets, and Suns.
SPURS BACK TO SCHOOL BASH A HUGE SUCCESS
The team recently hosted its annual Back To School Bash at the Frost Bank Center, which was another successful day.
A few Spurs players, such as David Duke Jr., Sidy Cissoko, and Charles Bassey, greeted the students and handed out much-needed school supplies to prepare them for the school year.
Parents, students, and teachers in grades K-12 attended the free attend for free school supplies and resources and much more, including vaccines, haircuts, dental screenings, and vision checks.
“We believe in building leaders and legacies where we live, work, play and learn,” said Dr. Kara Allen, Chief People, Impact and Belonging Officer at SS&E in a release. “Empowering teachers and families with essential resources is vital to student success in and beyond the classroom. We are honored to connect with our community and share resources for students, caregivers and teachers who will be equipped to start the new school year confident and prepared to grow together.”
The Back to School Bash has drawn over 10,500 attendees in the two years since its launch. Last year’s event alone provided over 1,200 health screenings, 700 dental screenings and cleanings, and 11,000 school supplies.
