Spurs' Wesley leads basketball skills clinic as part of the franchise's salute to the armed forces

Blake Wesley led the clinic to sharpen the kids' basketball skills.

SAN ANTONIO — Sunday night was Military Appreciation at the Frost Bank Center as the San Antonio Spurs recognized the armed forces in San Antonio.

However, the team's appreciation for military families started Saturday afternoon with a special Lil’ MVPs basketball clinic for children of local service members.

Approximately 40 children of active-duty military members stationed in San Antonio took part in the Lil’ MVPs basketball clinic at the Antioch Sports Complex & Community Center with Spurs Sports Academy. Spurs assistant Coach Darius Songaila and Blake Wesley led the clinic to sharpen the kids' basketball skills.

After the young athletes got to hoop with the Spurs, Welsey took time to sign autographs and participate in a photo session, a skills competition, and a Q&A.

SPURS + SAN ANTONIO FOOD BANK TEAM UP

After a long hiatus, the Spurs and the San Antonio Food Bank teamed up to benefit the Food Bank in its goal to feed the community.

Ultimately, it provided more than one million meals throughout Southwest Texas.

This one-of-a-kind dinner was served by the players and coaches of the Spurs, with Gregg Popovich leading the way. Tickets were $1000.00 and sold out fast.
