SAN ANTONIO — Big man Zach Collins has reportedly agreed to a contract extension with the Spurs that will keep him in San Antonio through 2026.

The 25-year-old former lottery pick has gotten healthy and proven his value as a high-level shooter and passer who brings a level of ‘nasty’ that head coach Gregg Popovich loves. Pop called him the starting center at the tail end of last season, and he appears to be a perfect complement to star rookie Victor Wembanyama.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that the extension will be for a total of $35 million through the 2025-26 season.

It’s a remarkable comeback for a player who missed several seasons due to ankle injuries. He established himself as an important contributor in San Antonio’s starting unit after the Jakob Poeltl trade last season.

Collins shot 37% from three last season and averaged about 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game as a starter.
