SAN ANTONIO — Regarding the future of the San Antonio Spurs and perhaps the NBA, look no further than Victor Wembanyama.
This season, the Spurs center is posting 24.0 points per game, including 10.2 rebounds and 3.6 blocks.
He's already recorded a 5x5 game, a 50-point night and his third career triple-double against the Kings on Sunday night, with 34 points, 11 assists and 14 rebounds.
Indeed, he is a force to be reckoned with at just 20 years old.
ESPN recently released its top 25 players under the age of 25, and to no one's surprise, Wembanyama landed at No. 1.
"He has become the NBA's premier interior defender, on his way to leading the league in blocks per game (3.6) for a second consecutive season," posted ESPN. "It also would serve him to get to the foul line more often (3.3 free throws per game). Considering this production is the baseline for a generational player who has yet to turn 21, it's easy to understand why he was anointed as an all-time prospect."
There's no denying Wemby's dominance on the court, but he never forgets that success requires a team effort.
"Got to keep pushing. We didn’t get anywhere yet, it’s barely 20 games into the season," he said following the Spurs recent win over the Kings.
NEW SPURS, H-E-B COMMERCIAL IS HERE
The popular Spurs-H-E-B commercials are slowly coming out, and a brand new one was recently released.
This one features Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, and Wembanyama on the bench reacting wildly as the Coyote serves up fresh food for them to see.
The first commercial released this season featured Wemby delivering good food from the local grocer with his outer space friends.
