Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.
SPURS
Coach Gregg Popovich:
“When you lose, oftentimes you do a few things poorly. If you win, you do more things well and you have a chance to win. If they had a 30-6 run, we probably did some pretty bad things during that period. You can just guess, write down whatever you want. It’s a simple game. You turn it over, you miss shots, they make shots. Your defense sags, maybe you don’t rebound. It’s all of the above. It’s no secret. So, to say, ‘What went wrong?’ doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. All those things went wrong and then you lose the game.”
Wembanyama:
“Consistency, as always. But today, I think it’s also responding to the physicality. We didn’t have a strong enough response I think.”
WARRIORS
Steve Kerr:
I didn't like the way the game started. I thought we were a step slow. Then it picked up the pace in the first half and was fast and liked our level of competition. As we went on, the third quarter defense, after that quick 8-0 started for them, we really turned up our defense. I don't know what they shot in the in the second half, but we held them to 42 [points]. The way that team (Spurs) had scored on us the other night and in the first half, that's what it was going to take to win the game.
Chris Paul:
“If you’ve watched this team play for a long time, they move the ball and share the ball extremely well. With the shooting that we have and Draymond [Green] creating stuff, Trayce gives us a different dimension with a lob of threat. So, I think we complement each other really well.”
