SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama and Team France survived a thrilling overtime win versus Team Japan in pool play, coming out on top 94-90 on Tuesday.
Wemby, who showed up when it mattered down the stretch of the game, scored 18 points and logged 11 rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks to help France remain undefeated at 2-0.
With the win, France qualifies for the quarterfinals and will face Team Germany next.
Aside from the win, Wembanyama also made Olympics history with a stat line of at least 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
During the match against Japan, 7-foot-4 Wemby was being guarded by 5-foot-4 Japanese guard Yuki Togashi.
Let's just say the Spurs center had the height advantage.
