SAN ANTONIO — UTSA has had a bumpy road this season, but none seemingly as big as their devastating loss to Tulsa on Saturday.

The first quarter was all UTSA as Owen McCown started the game hot with a short touchdown pass to Oscar Cardenas to get things going. Chris Carpenter one up'd Cardenas with a 69 yard touchdown catch to give the Roadrunners an early 14 point lead.

McCown picked up where he left off by starting the second quarter with his third touchdown pass, this one to TE Dan Dishman. But UTSA missed to point-after, keeping the score at 20-0. Remember that.

Tulsa quickly responded with a touchdown of their own to cut the lead to 13. That didn't last long as UTSA went on to score on back-to-back drives to make the score 35-7 going into halftime.

Tulsa began to rumble back and put up 10 quick points to start the half before McCown threw his fourth touchdown of the game to Willie McCoy after completing a methodical seven play, 75 yard drive.

The Golden Hurricanes spun the game around in the fourth after a long 74 yard touchdown, followed by a short score and field goal on consecutive drives to make the score 45-39.

UTSA had the ball with two minutes left but were unable to chew enough clock before having to give possession back to Tulsa.

The Golden Hurricanes went on to put together an amazing eight play, 92 yard drive capped off with a score to give them the lead, 46-45, with one minute left on the clock.

UTSA got the ball back but went three-and-out, essentially ending the game.

Had UTSA not missed the PAT the game would've advanced to overtime.

The Roadrunners will look to bounce back next week against Memphis (7-1) next Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Alamodome.
