SAN ANTONIO — UTSA earned their fourth win of the season after handing Memphis their second loss Saturday, 44-36.
After being tied 24-24 in a back-and-forth game going into halftime, the UTSA offense and defense started to click in the second half, as they went up 44-24 with 2:43 to go.
The Tigers roared back, however, and scored 12 straight to cut the lead to eight with :48 to go.
After a failed Memphis onside kick, the Roadrunners secured the win and survived the late attack by the Tigers.
Owen McCown led the way with 280 yards, four touchdown passes and no interceptions to lead the way for the Roadrunners. Chris Carpenter added 108 receiving yards and Houston Thomas reeled in two touchdown passes.
UTSA moves to 4-5 on the season, 2-3 in the conference. Meanwhile Memphis loses only their second game of the season and are now 7-2, both losses being in the conference.
The Roadrunners play North Texas on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
