OXNARD, Calif. — The Dallas Cowboys are just days away from their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, and they are still missing their star wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb.

We don't know where Lamb has been, but one thing is for sure -- he wasn't at Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California.

Lamb is entering the final year of his contract, which guarantees him $17.99 million.

The star WR, who garnered a career-high 1,749 yards last season, is holding out for a contract extension -- like many young players in his position.

Vikings WR Justin Jefferson was given a four-year $140 million contract in June, making his salary nearly double that of Lamb's.

At Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Jerry Jones spoke to reporters about CeeDee's absence.

"I don't expect not to have CeeDee Lamb [when the season starts], but this camp has given target opportunities for the people who need it most, and that's the ones who are not proven like CeeDee," Jones said.

When asked about his confidence about CeeDee suiting up for the start of the season on Sept. 8, Jones said this: "Well I don't know about that, but we're getting great work, making real progress and, I don't think, losing a step where we're at now."

When Jones was asked if he plans on signing Lamb before the preseason kicks off Sunday, he responded simply.

"No," Jones said.

When asked why he said they won't get the contract done by Sunday, Jones said jokingly "I don't have a sense of urgency about getting it done."

CeeDee Lamb responded to Jones' comments on his urgency on X, formerly Twitter, with a simple "lol."

Lamb is not the only Cowboys star seeking a contract extension. QB Dak Prescott and LB Micah Parsons are also entering the final year of their contracts and looking for a bigger payday.

This offseason has been defined by a lack of moves by the Cowboys front office. The faithful to America's Team are growing more frustrated each passing day that Jones doesn't meet the three stars' demands.
