SAN ANTONIO — The City of San Antonio will finally have the opportunity to host the Warrior Games for the first time since it became an annual event.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command announced the locations for the 2025, 2026 and 2028 Warrior Games. While the 2025 games will be held in Colorado Springs, San Antonio was chosen for the 2026 and 2028 games after missing out on the 2020 games that were cancelled due to COVID-19.

“We’re excited to welcome the Department of Defense Warrior Games and recognize our wounded, ill or injured service members in Military City, USA, home of the DoD’s largest medical center,” said Jenny Carnes, president and CEO of San Antonio Sports. “San Antonio Sports’ mission is to transform our community through the power of sport. We know that this competition is about more than just athletics. We look forward to celebrating sport as a means of empowering individuals, giving confidence, strengthening community and being an integral part of the recovery journey.”

The Warrior Games have been an annual event since its conception in 2010. Each year, hundreds of wounded, ill and injured military service members and veterans compete in adaptive sporting events such as wheelchair basketball, cycling, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball and more as part of their recovery journeys.

Details regarding the schedule, viewing opportunities, sponsorships and more will be announced closer to the event date.
